Nsawam inflates the Hernia of the politician but nourishes the health of others?

Image
By Joseph Osei. In my country Ghana (GYEEDA LAND), politician flouts the law, either he is left of the hook or he is tried just to put dust in the eyes of the ordinary and later discharge and acquitted, the few who do not belong to a government of that time of the trial are jailed BUT on getting to Nsawam, his "sickness comes" and he is rushed to KORLE-BU or 37 MH Hospital. From the Hospital, he goes straight back home, having either secured a presidential pardon or a "fake" bail on health grounds! If you think I am lying, ask Adamu Dramani Sakande, The Bawku MP! In fact, I am very disappointed in the "law" that frees the "big men" as soon as they get to Nsawam. What is there in Nsawam that inflates the Hernia of the politician but nourishes the health of all other categories of prisoners? On 10th October 1960, when Nsawam Prisons received its first in-mates, Dr Kwame Nkrumah made it clear that the Prison was not going to be a home for o...

Mother Africa calls; where are they?

Image
By Joseph Osei Africa indeed is weeping for the visionary and tenacious leaders it ones had. The leaders who stood their grounds against colonialism. The leaders who projected and defended the dignity, wisdom, independence and self sufficiency of AFRICA. The leaders for whom leadership was not a matter of comfort and relish. The leaders who deemed their offices as privileged honors. The leaders who looked unto the seat of governance as an altar of sacrifice. Leaders who would feel guilt of conscience if they came across their fellow citizens living in penury. Where are they? Where did they all go? Was that gene sprayed into extinction with an infanticide of the west? Where are they hiding? Is the threat of the CIA intelligence that ousted Nkrumah still coercive in this age? Have the beauty of motor kids and presidential convoys pampered the leaders to go to bed? Has GHC 7,200 and a string of countless allowances reduced our representative leaders to talk show guests? Has the...

George Spratz ‘Palajasco Music’, Music that changed my night, my wedding Guest

Image
By Joseph Osei Am a fan of good music and my kind of songs, are not the modern hip life or the hip pop. My much loved music is Krokrome from Amakye Dede. Many observers will be in awe, a young man of my age will seek solace in music that is perceived to be for the aged. One line in the music that struck me is “Asu kitoa woyeri p3br3” which can be translated in English as “A small river that floods its bank in the dry season” I have extensively wish to see young men of today go into such music but I only hear foul-tasting music say aloud on our televisions and radio stations anytime I tune in to one of the two. I nearly gave up till yesterday 18/10/2013 after 6pm news I heard a voice on Ultimate Radio 106.9 where I work. I first thought it was Agya Koo Nimo till my curiosity led me into the studio to steal a look at the face behind that voice. To my utmost bewilderment, I saw a young man of my age with a young lady of about 17 years old doing what in my view is for the aged as ...

Pornography!!!!? To Watch Or Not To Watch

By Joseph Osei An incident that occurred to me just a while ago taught me a great lesson. “It just takes a second of decision to get you contaminated”. Just a snap of a decision could either get you into a ditch or scale you across it. It could take just a click of a button for anyone to get addicted to an act that can destroy the person forever. How do we call this? Perhaps the seed of the devil. An auntie visited home this afternoon. I felt I could copy for her an exciting version of an audio bible I obtained from my sister Ida. I was wondering which pen drive I could easily give away for a while to do this. Suddenly I remembered coming across a pen drive in a jewelry box belonging to my mother. A little bit about my mother: She is a very hard working woman who offered to employ her workerholism as a ministry in church. Two o’clock is her normal time of waking up on a Sunday morning and latest by three thirty am she is off to church to clean up the very huge church....

A Heart's Cry For A Thief In The Hands Of A Merciless Mob.

Image
Standing in a bus coming from church I see a man mercilessly beaten beyond recognition. Disfigured, with only God knows what offensive object Voices around me conjecture He should be a thief; he could be beaten to death. they recount incidents of instant mob justice as we drive on away from the sight Questions run haywire in my mind What if he did it; what if he didn't do it. What might have driven him into this? Is it fair? What could be going on through his mind What could be going on through his heart Naked and broken, his dignity, pride and freedom snatched from him Is his spirit alive, does his soul still live A dead man whose body just has enough strength to lead him to the slaughter. No one to speak for him No one to defend him Where are his parents Who is responsible for him What should instincts be doing in the heart and intestines of a mother whose son's life hangs in the balance The balance to the mercy or cruelty of people whose e...
