MadibaChristmas of Love and Sharing

Image
In the whole of 2013 one thing that touched my heart for me to shed tears was the work of a group known as Madibachristmas. On 25/12/2013 when others were enjoying at the various beaches, bars and hotels, a few good men and women decided to celebrate their Xmass with the less privileged on the streets of Three regions in Ghana distributing canned drinks, biscuits food and inspirational messages These are the pictures as they do their work. Giving today was a #Heartwarming experience. We donated items to the Children's Ward of Konongo Government Hospital. The nurses and the mothers were full of joy and smiles. We also shared and consoled the plight of a neglected accident victim. In his aching low voice, all he kept saying was "God bless you” Kelly and his family were touched. They visited these orphans at Kokofu, near Bekwai. You can also do something. It doesn't take planning. All it takes is #VIM . Get out there and make their smiles...

IAC PR never erred, inferiority complex is killing Africans.

I pity Africans who will cling unto just any joke and make racism case out of it. How do people get AIDS? After analyzing the Justine Sacco's tweet, i have realized she interned no racism. Please analyze her tweet before judging her.   Let us analyze Sacco’s tweet, we all know how people acquire HIV/AIDS but looking at her tweets it was more like she being careful not to engage in activities that might have a high risk of her contracting the disease in Africa.   There are reasons she might not contract the disease in her country wherever she is and there might be reason she risk contracting the disease in Africa. I found it very pathetic how some African are making evil out of the tweet made by Justine Sacco. I never even speak of her assistance to Africa. I have observed with keen interest how issues like this are over exaggerated to demean Africans. I can see a clear case of inferiority complex which served as a catalyst to open racism. Let the poor woman be! And ...

Peasant Farmers Peasant farmers demand resourcing

Image
The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has called on government to adequately resource the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) to enable it to perform its functions.      Mr Mohammed Adam Nashiru, President of PFAG who made the call at a sensitization forum on the operations of NAFCO in Tamale on Thursday, said this would ensure food security as well as improve incomes and livelihood of farmers.      The forum, which brought together small-holder farmers and officials of NAFCO from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions, was to share findings of an on-going research by PFAG into the operations of NAFCO as well as collate further inputs to update the study.      PFAG hopes to conclude the research by next year and present it to government as basis to revamp the operations of NAFCO to alleviate the plight of especially small-holder farmers.      Mr Nashiru said the NA...

Service innovations from northern Ghana to better serve rural farmers

Image
The small holder farmers of northern Ghana are not known for their diligent dedication to recording their farm incomes, expenses and related activities. But it is easy to see how keeping records could really help farmers plan their farming activities to maximize their profits, especially with regards to calculating profits from costs and incomes and using this information to make decisions on investments which continuously improve profits. To address this gap in record keeping, one project created a workbook to be distributed to farmers throughout northern Ghana that would act as a template for documenting this important information. I have no doubt that this book will be put to some kind of use.  Indeed, even my empty floss container was picked out of my garbage and put to use by the neighbour’s children. But let’s take a moment to consider the core issues affecting farmer record keeping and I think it will become obvious that the efforts behind the farmer workbook treat ...
