Radio presenter Kaba dead

Sad news reaching us this morning is that seasoned radio presenter, Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong, popularly known as KABA has passed on. News reaching us from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra indicate that the radio icon was rushed to the hospital after his sugar level shot up but unfortunately, he could not make it upon reaching the hospital. Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong before this unfortunate news was the host of Asempa FM's 'Ekosi Sen'. He was noted for his many anti-corruption campaigns. He tied the knot somewhere last year with Radio Gold presenter, Valentina Ofori Afriyie. The wedding was held in Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi and it was attended by high-ranking personalities in the radio fraternity including Kwame Sefa-Kayi.

Angel Obinim saved 24yr old at point of death*

Cosmos Tefuttor, a 24 year old level 100 student of University College of Management Studies, Weija in the Greater Accra Region had been paralyzed for four (4) years  and had lost lots of weight due to intestinal obstruction and appendicitis. He was  unconsciousness when he was brought to the Tema branch of International Gods Way Church-IGWC in Ghana.             According to reports, When Cosmos was taken ill, a surgery  ( Laporotomy +adhesiolysis + anastomosis of small bowel) was performed on him in June 15,2013 but he was not healed.       

Roads closed for Ouattara visit

The Accra Regional Police Command has announced the closure of some roads in Accra on Monday, October 16 as Ghana hosts President of Cote d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara. Mr Ouattara will from Monday, 16th October, 2017, begin a 2-day Official Visit to Ghana. The purpose of the visit is to deepen further the already strong relations that exist between the two countries, as well as explore other areas of co-operation to their mutual benefit. A statement issued by the police expressing deep regret for “any inconveniences” explained that the listed roads will be closed to traffic from 11:00am on Monday and reopened immediately after the ceremonial procession.

Minister begs Ashanti Region residents over bad roads

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah is begging residents in the region over the poor road network in the area following their plans to demonstrate. For some time now, many have described roads in the region as the poorest among the rest in the country ranking them number one in terms of their deplorable nature. Mynewsgh.com has gathered that there is an ongoing revolution by residents to force authorities to fix the deplorable roads which they say is hampering economic activities in the area and fertile for criminals. Bimbilla: Nakpaa-Naa finally buried after 3 years

The body of the late Nakpaa-Naa Salifu Dawuni, has finally been buried at his private residence in Bimbilla, after nearly three years of his demise. The burial was done in accordance with the traditions and customs of Nanung at 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was buried amidst heavy security at the burial site, the Bimbilla Regent’s palace, and at some vantage points in the Bimbila Township. This latest development is a sigh of relief to the late Nakpaa-Naa Salifu Dawuni’s family. Hundreds of residents of Bimbilla Township paraded the streets wailing when the family heads aided by security operatives escorted the remains from the Bimbila Training College to his private residence for burial. The late Nakpaa-Naa Salifu Dawuni passed on 5th March 2014, and his remains have been deposited at the Yendi Hospital morgue.

Ashanti youth condemn ‘bogus’ money laundering allegation against Otumfuo

An association of youth in the Ashanti Region has said a publication that appeared in a UK-based news portal citing Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in a money laundering scandal is spurious. A statement issued Wednesday evening by the Concerned Youth of Asante stated that its President, Nana Dr Agyenim Boateng, is “convinced that the news is cooked to degrade the name of His Royal Majesty of the Asante kingdom.” The revered Asantehene is reported to have handed £350,000 cash to a banker, Mark Arthur, to be deposited on his behalf at the Ghana International Bank in the UK. The bank official who handled the transfer said he did that because he is a subject of the King and could not question him over the money or any other issue. BIRTH AND DEATH BUILDING TURNS FOREST RESERVE

Birth and Death, governmental institution building in the Eastern regional capital  coordinating council  - Koforidua abandoned for about Twenty (20) years. Speaking to the Regional director , Mr. Samuel Forster Omane claimed the contract of the project awarded from national in somewhere 1998, and building plan was drawn in May, 1999.  The building is  abandoned at the lintel level without contract documents. The General Secretary (Ag) of the NPP has called on the party's regional and constituency executives to involve government appointees in their meetings and other engagements. This, he said, would help bridge the "gap" between government and the party at various levels and also address the concerns of party members at all times. He made this call whilst addressing the upper west annual regional delegates conference of the party in the regional capital, Wa, on Sunday, July 23. He disclosed that the party would be organizing regular meetings between government appointees and party members at various levels in order to ensure harmonious relationship between the two bodies. Mills’ brother threatens to exhume late President’s body

Samuel Atta Mills has threatened to exhume the body of his brother – the late President John Evans Atta Mills – due to the terrible nature of the Asomdwe Park, where he was buried.  Atta Mills, who is the MP for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) in the Central region disclosed this in an interview with Starr News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Ibrahim Alhassan after a statement on the floor of parliament to mark the late president’s 73rd birthday.  According to him, the park “is nothing to write home about” and the ossuary of his brother is inundated with cracks because of neglect.  “It is so sad what we are doing,” he bemoaned, saying “if it has to come to me to exhume the body and take it to a proper place I am prepared to do it.” If the state is not ready to take care of it, we would have to advise ourselves,” he threatened.  President Atta Mills died at the 37 Military Hospital on July 24, 201...

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sam Pynn   and the Member of Parliamentary for Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti Region are being accused of creating division and disaffection among party members in the Ejisu constituency of the NPP. Mr. Sam Pynne who stands accused of been the orchestrating of recent Subin impasse in the same region is said to be leading a trend which could cause the NPP to suffer another embarrassment if steps are not taking to bring Sam Pynne to order. Aggrieve party faithful are threatening a show down if these individuals including some few constituency executives do not halt activities that has the tendencies of creating acrimony and animosity among party faithful.

Man sustains severe burns after lady he jilted, allegedly set room on fire

A teacher whose name was given as Teacher Kwadwo has sustained severe burns after a lady, Owusua who he reportedly jilted, set his room on fire. Narrating the incident to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, our correspondent Abdul Malik said, the suspect who is now in police custody, dated and was impregnated by the victim. However, the victim denied responsibility of the pregnancy and failed to cater for Owusua. Owusua, acting upon an information that, Teacher Kwadwo was preparing to tie the knot with another lady on Sunday April 16, 2017, stormed his residence, quarrelled with him and left. Ambulance driver conveying Kintampo Waterfalls victims killed in gory accident

  State-owned ambulance conveying victims of the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi was involved in car crash, killing the driver in the process. The ambulance with registration number GV 375-12 was carrying the victims in critical condition to the hospital when the accident occurred in a farming community called Gwenewoho. Eyewitnesses told mynewsgh.com that the accident occurred Tuesday morning around 4 am.

17 feared dead; others missing in Kintampo waterfall accident

Seventeen persons are confirmed dead at the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Brong Ahafo region after trees crashed on them following a heavy storm on Sunday. Eyewitnesses say the heavy trees fell from the top of the waterfalls and landed on the people, mostly students who had gone to swim.  Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police including other disaster management officials have been to the disaster scene in a rescue effort.  A huge tree fell at the top when the rains began and crashed the revelers,” an eyewitness told Starr News. “So far we have counted 16 people.”

Man killed his brother's wife

       Tanyigbe-Anyigbe, a suburb in the Ho municipality, was last    Friday thrown into a state of mourning following a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a woman and injury of a man. Oliver Amevor aka Kumah Mensah, allegedly, carried out his threat of killing his junior brother, Kumah Korku, but ended up killing the wife of Korku. The suspect is now in the grips of the police. Rampage The youth of the town apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police.

Achimota student kills colleague, case sent to AG

A duplicate docket on a 17-year old third-year student of Achimota Senior High School who allegedly shot a female colleague with his father’s single barrel gun has been forwarded to the Attorney General office for advice. The Police told a Juvenile court that investigations into the matter which took place at Tema had been completed and the court adjourned the case to February 17. The accused was reported d to have gone for his father’s gun under a bed with the intent of shooting in the air but ended up killing his friend Lily Donkor who is also a third-year student of the same school.

Woman cuts off lover`s penis

A jilted woman cut off her lover's penis with a gardening tool before running down the street with it after he told her he was marrying someone else. She hatched a plan to stop him sleeping with the other woman by luring him to her home for sex, but after blindfolding the 23-year-old, she grabbed a sickle and slashed off his privates. Incredibly, the victim tried covering for her by claiming he had chopped it off himself in India.  His horrified parents raced him to hospital when they found him writhing in agony in his bedroom after he managed to stumble back.

Ghanaian woman and three children die in fire outbreak.

The burial and final funeral rites of a Ghanaian woman and her three children who perished in a fire outbreak in Finland, will be held February 4 2017.  The woman Nana Ago Prah and her three children all perished in the early hours of Friday December 9, when their home was razed down by fire in Helsinki, Finland. The father and husband of the victims, John Owusu, who is also a board member of the Ghana Union Finland, was at work at the time of the incident. It is believed that the fire started from the sauna in their sixth-floor apartment and that the victims had died out of suffocation.

Bishop Dag Heward Mills attack gays in South Africa

The South African church that invited rev. Dag Heward-Mills to preach has distanced itself from the sermon shared by Dag Heward-Mills on his visit to the Church after it incensed a lot of people.  Dag Heward-Mills was invited by the Grace Bible Church as a guest pastor to their 9am service.  Bishop Heward-Mills in his sermon at the Soweto-based Church described Homosexuals as “unnatural” and “unbiblical”. 

Tyre burst smashes 2 to death, injured two others at Agogo

Two people have died in a gory accident at Asante-Akim Agogo in the Ashanti Region after the rim of a lorry tyre they were working on struck them following an explosion. Two others also suffered severe injuries are said to be in critical condition at the local Presbyterian Hospital. Yaw Debrah, 34, a welder, and Kofi Junior, 19, a tricycle rider, had their heads smashed-off by the metal rim. One of the injured victims is identified only as Akwasi, a mason, but the other is yet to be named.

Chief defiles 13 year old girl

The Adontenhene of Assin Adiembra in the Central Region, Nana Minta Ebu II has been accused of allegedly defiling a 13-year old primary 5 pupil. The Benkumhene of the community Nana Effisah Keteko I who disclosed the incident to Adom News’ Alfred Amoh, said the suspect, Nana Minta Ebu II took advantage of his only fufu pounding machine in the community to commit the heinous act.

Patient on admission at Tema hospital vanishes.

Police had asked management of the hospital to provide a detailed report on the incident . Ten days after a patient went missing at the Tema General Hospital (TGH) while on admission, the police have officially opened a missing person’s investigation into the matter. The administrator of the hospital and two nurses are currently on police enquiry bail as a result of the disappearance of Mr Reuben Anyasu, 64, from the facility.

A mason raped and killed a seven year old girl

The Mother of Ruth Ankomah, a class one pupil of Meschach Academy School at Zenu, Ashaiman who was defiled and strangled to death has appealed to the Court to expedite justice. “I want justice,” she told the Court. Ruth seven-year- old girl was allegedly strangled to death by Lucas Agboyie a mason after having sex with her on April 19, 2015.

A 37-year-old journalist working with Coastal TV in Cape Coast is in the grips of the Central regional Police command for allegedly using dubious means to collect  nude pictures of ladies, and later threatening to circulate them on social media. The suspect, Emmanuel Orlando Matrevi, according to the police, collects nude pictures from the ladies under the pretext that he lives in Europe and would want to marry them.

Two policemen arrested for helping armed robbers

Two police officers, Daniel Omar and Isaac Kumah, have been arrested after an attempt to rob a small-scale mining site in the Central region failed. Two others are also in the grips of the Dunkwa District Police Command following the incident in the Upper Denkyira East constituency in Kyikyire near Dunkwa Offin.

Two children ages 9 and 5yrs met their untimely death after they were run over by a passenger vehicle. The two dead females are students of International community school(ICS) at Pekyi in the Ashanti Region The accident occurred on the santasi kokoben road in the Kumasi metropolis at about 8:00am today The vehicle with registration  number BA 758 15 is said to have veered of the road after it was crossed by another vehicle. The two children where were waiting for a school bus to their school when the were crushed by a towing vehicle. The bodies of the two dead children have been conveyed to the morgue. The driver is said to have fled from the scene to avoid being lynched by angry citizens. Colleague students who arrived at the scene in the school bus only to see their mates dead burst into uncontrollable weeping and wailing, a situation which has thrown the vicinity into a state of mourning. A source claimed that the doctor (named withheld) invited the trainee nurse who was on night duty on Tuesday evening January 10, to his office and sexually abused her.

The Police in the Upper west region have began a manhunt for some suspected armed robbers who shot and killed a Police Officer. The deceased Constable Edmund Kwakuvi, is said to have been reporting to his post at the district Chief Executive’s residence when the incidence occurred. The Crime Officer for the Upper West regional Police Service, Supt. Alhaji Fuseini Musah Awinaaba said in an interview that the service is optimistic the culprit will soon be found and brought to book.

Allie Dowdle says her parents refused to give her any more cash saying they didn't approve of the relationship. A 23-year-old self-employed woman dealing in used ladies shoes from Berekum in the Berekum Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Sakina Mustapha, is in the grips of the Police for attempting to smuggle a substance suspected to be cocaine to an inmate at the Sunyani Prisons. Speaking to  Citi News , the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Prisons, ASP. Johann Nii Narh Nartey, said the suspect believed to be a member of a notorious drug syndicate terrorizing residents in the area, was arrested on Monday at the Sunyani Central Prison with the substance.

86yrs old man commits suicide

An eighty-six year-old man has committed suicide at Anlo Town, a suburb of the New Juaben Municipality in the Eastern region. The deceased hanged himself in his chamber and hall apartment on Saturday while others were watching the inauguration of the Nana Akufo-Addo. Speaking to Starr News’ Eastern regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumeko, narrated that the police received information in the Morning that a man had committed suicide in his room.

11 Ghanaians murdered in Togo

Eleven Ghanaians have reportedly  been murdered in Togo. It is not clear who committed the act but Police sources in Togo say Ghanaian passports and voters’ ID cards were found on the bodies. The victims, who were beheaded and shot, are believed to be Bimoabas living around Bunkprugu and Chereponi in the Northern region..

Police jailed for bullion van robbery

The two policemen involved in the alleged robbery of a bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Eastern Region, have been jailed 36 months by the Mpraeso Circuit Court for escaping from lawful custody. General Corporal Solomon Elvis Mensah and General Lance Corporal Daniel Kissi Abrokwa were found guilty by the Court at the end of the trial. The two are also appearing before a District Court in Accra, over the alleged attack on the bullion van belonging to GCB Bank Limited at Maame Krobo, which led to the death of the driver, Daniel K. Sarpong. The two in the company of a civilian Hafisu Mohammed, aka Danjuma, a mechanic escaped at Nkawkaw when they were being transported to Koforidua.

Taxi kills one, injures 16 after Nana Addo's Inauguration

A taxi cab ran into a group of children killing one instantly and injuring 16 others at Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiagya district of the Ashanti Region. The incident happened at about 8pm Saturday night when the children had gathered by the streets to watch celebrations following the inauguration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president. According to police, the "inexperienced" driver had gone for his brother’s taxi cab, to join the jubilations. But he lost control of the car and ran into the children. Following the incident, the body of four-year-old Abena Kyerewaa has since been deposited at the Nkawie Government Hospital while two of the injured were also rushed to the same hospital for treatment. Seven were taken to the Toase Government Hospital and six of them, who were in critical condition, were also referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Robber sentenced to years in prison

The Yendi Circuit Court has sentenced Apam Ibrahim, 35, to six years in prison with hard labour for stealing 80 wax print cloths valued at Ghs8000.00. Lagam Eric Badabo alias Okada, the second accused, who pleaded not guilty was granted bail of GHs500.00 and would reappear before the court on 13th January 2017. The two were accused of stealing the wax print cloths belonging to Madam Martha Notob a trader in Tatale in the Tatale Sanguli District of the Northern Region.
