Police in Brazil say the Greek ambassador to the country was killed by a local police officer who was having an affair with the envoy's wife. Kyriakos Amiridis had been missing since Monday. His body was found in a burnt-out car on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro on Thursday. Police say the ambassador's Brazilian wife, Francoise Amiridis, plotted the murder with her lover.

3 NDC supporters commit suicide over Mahama’s loss

Three supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), committed suicide after Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was declared President of the 2016 December polls. The three supporters, Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye said could not contain the pain of defeat hence they committing suicide.  The Minister said on Accra-based Starr FM Wednesday that the incident happened across the country. He however failed to name names and the locations where it happened. “We have reports of people committing suicide. Yes, I’ve heard of about three across the country.

Man kills mother, buries her in septic tank.

 By Daud Olatunji ABEOKUTA—Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 33-year-old man, Segun Ogunlusi, for allegedly stabbing his mother to death and burying her in a septic tank. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement yesterday, saying the suspect was arrested following a report from his younger sister, Yetunde Ogunlusi. Oyeyemi said the incident occurred at 16, Oketunde Street, Molatori Ogijo in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that he will hand over a peaceful and stable Ghana to his successor; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, come January 7, 2017. “I inherited a peaceful and stable country from my predecessor, the late President John Evans Atta Mills and will also hand over a peaceful and stable government to my successor, the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.” President Mahama gave the assurance when members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference called on him at the Flagstaff House, Kanda.

Eugene Arhin, Press Secretary to President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has asked the general public to disregard a list being circulated on social media and other platforms supposedly containing the names of persons pencilled for ministerial and deputy ministerial positions in the incoming administration. According to him, the list purported to have been signed by him is fake, for which reason the public should disregard it.

Mahto Suraj, A 22-year-old man has abandoned his 19-year-old wife Latila, and is said to have married his mother in-law, Asha Devi. Mahto claims he fell in love with his 42-year-old mother-in-law after she paid them a visit in the village of puraini in Bihar, in the north-eastern part of India. According to India Times, Asha left her husband who is a factory worker’s home in Delhi and started living with Suraj and had a court marriage and a formal temple wedding in June.

Police service held a ceremony to remember falling personnel

The Ghana Police Service today held its second remembrance day and officially inaugurated a cenotaph in commemoration of fallen personnel.  A total of eight personnel who died in line of dut y were remembered and had their names inscribed on the newly unveiled cenotaph at the National Police Training School, Tesano Accra. H.E. President John Dramani Mahama was the guest of Honour. In attendance were the Interior Minister Hon. Prosper Douglas Bani, Acting Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Jiang Zhaoteng, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Interior Mrs. Adelaide Anno- Kumi, former Inspector Generals of Police, Retired Police Commissioners, other Heads of Security Services and the Diplomatic Corps.

Tiger kills two in Upper West

\ Fear has gripped residents in communities close to the Ghana/Burkina Faso border in the Upper West region following reports that a tiger has killed two people including a Fulani herdsman. According to reports, the tiger escaped from a game reserve in Burkina Faso. Starr News’ Musah Lansah reported that the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Gum Kofi Duaka has been touring the said affected communities to ascertain the veracity of the reports. After touring the communities he, however, couldn’t confirm whether it was a tiger or a lion as the narratives from the indigenes lack consistency, reported Lansah. The DCE has called the police and other security personnel to visit the communities to investigate the incident.

New satellite television belonging to bishop Obinim commence operations

New satellite television on multi TV digit box has commenced its test transmission. ICE TV, the second satellite television belonging to the Founder and General Overseer of International Gods Way Church goes on air as the station begins its test transmission. Unlike  OB TV which is a Christian channel,ICE TV may  be operated on commercial and will also run an online news portal known as www.icetvonline.com. ICE TV was acquired by Bishop Obinim when his Christian satellite television OB TV was shut down seven months ago due to an alleged discrepancies in it's registration.  After  countless negotiations, OB TV was given the permission to transmit its programs.
